Anti-Scratch Products with a Protective Film Coating

Anti-Scratch

An anti-scratch or scratch-resistant coating is a film or coating that can be applied to a product, such as a camera lens, mobile phone, safety eyewear and corrective glasses. Anti-scratch film is also available for shop windows. The coating does not interfere with the function and does not affect vision, but creates a permanent bond that reduces the appearance of hairline scratches. Though an anti-scratch coating is not 100% scratch-proof, it helps to prevent minor scratches that can easily happen during use. These minor scratches would otherwise damage the surface of the lens or surface.

An anti-scratch coating acts as a protective layer thus making the item more durable. In addition to lenses, anti-scratch coatings are often used on plastic products wherever optical clarity, weathering and chemical resistance is required. These include displays, injection molded parts, gauges and other instruments, mirrors, signs, eye safety / protective goggles, and cosmetic packaging. These coatings are usually water-based or solvent-based. Anti-scratch coatings are generally applied via spray (hand or automated), dip, spin, roll or flow coating. Most coating types can be cleaned with a common glass cleaner and a soft cloth.

A variety of ready-made protective films are available cut to the shape and size of popular smartphone models such as the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and Nokia Lumia.
